Some Hurricane Aid Is More Equal Than Others
Gulf Coast Lawmaker Votes Against Sandy Relief
Representative Steven Palazzo (R-MS) really wants to help NJ/NY/CT the way MS and Biloxi were helped after Hurricane Katrina.
Of course, being a modern Republican, spending cuts come way before easing the misery of his fellow Americans.
The following is a message I left on Representative Palazzo’s Facebook page:
You know what, Congressman? When Mississippi needed help after Katrina, it was offered unconditionally. First and foremost it was about helping fellow Americans in their time of need. No strings attached.
But now when we need help in NJ, all of sudden, you and the 66 other heartless politicians in your miserable party are turning your backs on us. Because you’re more interested in accounting than you are relieving the misery of your fellow Americans.
We got hit. Badly. I know someone in OSHA who worked both Katrina and Sandy, and his view is Sandy was worse. Far worse.
You and the 66 wretches who refused to help us in the Northeast are Exhibit A in what’s wrong with the GOP. And, quite frankly, you’re a disgrace to the country and Constitution you supposedly have sworn to uphold.
At times, it’s people like you that make me ashamed to be an American.
Of course, I’m such a frigging idiot, I’d donate to any hurricane relief that Mississippi might need in the future, much like I did for Katrina.
No good deed goes unpunished, I guess.
